Cry Me to the Moon is a happy/sad love song about desire, anxiety and heartache. In the spirit of songs like the Everly Brothers' "Bye Bye Love”, the melody is catchy and uplifting, while the lyrics tell another story: the fear of re-opening past wounds while falling for someone new. The song was born out of a songwriting a challenge posed by Kieran to Zach while they were working on another project called “Dynamic Duos of the 60s” - a show that features songs by Simon & Garfunkel, Lennon & McCartney, Peter & Gordon among others. “I asked Zach if he thought he could write a song that could fit in seamlessly with the other 60s duo songs we were singing. A couple days later, he sends me a voice memo with this. I was blown away." “I set out to write a song where it’s hard to distinguish the melody from the harmony, much like some of the early Beatles and Everly Brothers songs. I’m happy with how it turned out” says Stevenson. Well, you won’t hear the Oh Boys crying about this one any time soon. This catchy, throwback pop song has fast become a signature at their live shows, where audiences have been quick to sing along, even if it’s their first time hearing Cry Me to the Moon.
